Dickson House Museum

Museums

Its establishment dates back to the beginning of the nineteenth century, following the historic agreement concluded between the ruler of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah, and Britain in 1899 AD. In 1904 AD, it became the residence and office of the British Political Commissioner. The first post office was opened there in 1915 AD, and in 1929 AD it became the headquarters of the first British Commissioner, Colonel Harold Dixon, and his wife, Mrs. Violet, and from here the house acquired its current name. The center currently includes an exhibition of Colonel Dixon’s collectibles and a display of that era in the history of the State of Kuwait.
